Creative Director — Maison Sacko

Raj Sacko

I build houses. Brands, products, and the systems that hold them — shaped with the discipline of Swiss design and the patience of a craft, to be lived in for decades.

Born in Lomé. Rooted in Ségou, Mali. Building from Türkiye.

The Belief

A short account of how I work, and why.

I was raised between two disciplines that were never meant to meet — the geometry of the Sahel and the geometry of Switzerland. They turned out to be the same discipline.

Restraint. Material honesty. The patience to make a thing once, and make it well.

Elegance is not a finish applied at the end. It is a discipline practised from the first decision — or it is only decoration, and decoration expires.

I do not chase trends; they are built to be replaced. I do not sell hours; I deliver outcomes that hold their value long after the invoice is forgotten.

I work the way a house is built — slowly, in proportion, by hand where the hand still matters, and by system everywhere else.

I am building one thing. Its name is Sacko. Everything I make is a room in it.

The House

What I'm building.

The Practice

One curiosity. Many materials.

Leonardo kept no border between art and engineering — and I have never found one either. The work moves across screens, objects, and fired clay. One practice, learned in many materials.

01

Brand & Identity

Names, marks, and the systems that keep a brand coherent as it grows.

02

Digital Product

Websites and interfaces — designed with restraint, then built to last.

03

Industrial & Product Design

Objects for interiors and the spaces real estate is made of.

04

Ceramics

Studied at the wheel. Form, weight, and patience — understood in fired clay.

05

Drawing

The first tool. Where an idea is tested by hand before it costs anything to build.

06

Design Systems

Restraint, written down — so the standard repeats without me in the room.

The Path

The long way here.

Chapter 01

Lomé, 1999

Born in Togo to a Beninese mother and a Malian father — the Maraka of the Ségou region. I grew up reaching toward that lineage, asking what we were and what we made.

Chapter 02

The forbidden school

As a child I decided I would be the Leonardo of my time. I asked to enter art school. I was refused — and sent toward accounting and marketing instead.

Chapter 03

The detour became the discipline

It felt like the end of something. It was the opposite. An artist who learns business stops being a vendor and becomes a director. The detour was the training.

Chapter 04

Türkiye, on merit

I worked to the top of my class and earned a scholarship. I crossed a continent to study — and stayed in Türkiye to build.

Chapter 05

The craft, found

Design arrived out of necessity. Then I studied it without pause — branding, interfaces, systems, and the work of the hand — until necessity became mastery.

Chapter 06

The house

Now there is Maison Sacko: my father's name above the door, and a standard I intend to carry, and to raise, for the rest of my working life.

The Invitation

Let's build something made to last.

I take on a small number of projects each year — brand, digital, and product — for people building something they intend to keep. For commissions, collaborations, and speaking, the door is open.
